While viewing television, my AQUOS TV is displaying video content in black & white.

Why does my AQUOS TV keep shutting down after 3 hours?
The “Power Control” setting in the Display Menu allows you to save energy. When the No Operation Off feature is set to “Enable”, the power will automatically shut down if no operation is detected for 3 hours. In order to allow the television to operate continuously, the No Operation Off feature must be set to “Disable”.
The brightness level on my television increases and decreases constantly. Why does this happen?
Active contrast will automatically adjust the image contrast according to the brightness level in the scene that is displayed. To disable the feature, In the Menu guide, select the “Picture Settings” and select “Advanced” to locate and turn “Off” the “Active Contrast” setting. When the “Active Contrast” feature is set to “On.”
How can I get Dolby Digital surround sound to output from my AQUOS TV, using a digital optical cable?
If you are watching TV, through the tuner connection, you can output HD audio using the Digital Optical Audio. If your source is connected via HDMI, it will let you output audio from the digital output, but it will down-sample the audio and output 2-channel stereo. Lastly, if you own the LE630U, LE6300 or the LE600U series models you cannot output HD audio from the digital optical output. If you are not using the tuner in your AQUOS TV as the source, it is best to connect your source directly to your audio device.
My AQUOS set occasionally displays green leaves on the screen, why does this happen?
When the TV is set to “On Display”, the Optical Picture Control (OPC) senses the surrounding light and automatically adjusts the backlight brightness; this will also display the green leaves on the LCD display. To disable this feature, go into the “Picture Settings” located in the Menu guide and set the OPC feature to “Off”.
Why does my AQUOS TV lose the A/V mode setting?
In the TV Menu, under initial setup, you want to select “EZ Setup” to verify the location of the television. Select LOCATION and HOME as the television’s location. If the TV location is set to “Store” and you switch the “A/V Mode” to “On”, the “A/V Mode” will default back to “Off” after 30 minutes.
Why am I getting a black square in the center of my television screen?
The Closed Caption function is set in the “Text Mode”. To remove it, access “Closed Caption” in the Menu and change the mode setting from “Text” to “Off”.
Occasionally, the movie or video content will become jumpy or flicker. Are there any settings in the menu that can be adjusted?
“Film Mode”, automatically detects a film-based source -originally encoded at 24 FPS or frames per second, analyzes it, then recreates each still frame for high-definition picture quality. In the “PICTURE SETTINGS”, select “ADVANCED” to check if the Film Mode is set to “Off”. Select a desired level to remove jerkiness from film content. Selectable Film Modes are: “Off”; “Advanced Low”; “Advanced High” and “Standard”. Remember, “Film Mode” does not function when you set the A/V Mode to “Game”. Also, “Film Mode” is not available during PC format input. “Standard” does not function when channel display shows an input signal resolution of 480p, 720p or 1080p.
I have connected an external source to my AQUOS TV and cannot receive picture or sound. What should I do?
  • Make sure you have selected the correct Input Mode on the television.
  • Press DISPLAY or the MENU button on your Sharp remote control to ensure the TV is turned “On”. If the display Menu does not appear, press the POWER button on the remote control in order to turn On the TV. Check the AC power to ensure connectivity.
  • Once you have ensured the TV is turned On and the Menu guide displays on the screen, check for the correct output connection on the external source to ensure the cables are seated properly (or properly inserted) for the correct input connection on the television.
  • For Audio/Sound, go into the TV Menu under System options. Using the cursor, scroll downward to “Output Select” to verify the “Output” is set to Fixed. This should produce sound from your television.
  • Note: On some models, the “Output Select” may be under “Options” or “Audio”.
I am receiving another language or sometimes no sound at all on some channels. What can I adjust on my Sharp TV?
That would indicate that the MTS (Multichannel television sound) mode on your television is set to SAP (Second audio program) mode. Sharp suggests setting the MTS mode to either Stereo or Mono by pressing the AUDIO button on the remote control. For more information, please refer to your operations manual.
My remote control does not operate. What should I do?
  • Check to see if the television is still plugged in the AC wall outlet.
  • If you have a universal remote control, be sure to select “TV Mode” on the remote control.
  • Make sure you have replaced old batteries and they are positioned correctly in the battery compartment.
  • If the remote control still does not work, reset the remote control by removing the batteries. Then press and hold the POWER BUTTON for 30 seconds. Insert the new batteries and press TV and POWER to turn “On” the television.
  • With a universal remote, if you have reset or changed the batteries, you will need to reprogram the remote control to operate the other units.

Can we connect a wireless keyboard to this smart TV?
  • This was a feature that was not advertised, but is compatible with most USB keyboards for these limited applications.
  • The only kinds of wireless keyboards that may be supported would be ones that have a USB dongle that they communicate to.
